Event: Buildings and Climate Global Forum: A new impetus for international cooperation on decarbonization and resilience of buildings

Place: French Pavilion

Date: 5 December 2023

Time: 14:30-16:00 Gulf Standard Time (GST)

Lead organisation(s): Ministry of Ecological Transition, France & GlobalABC

Description:

This event aims to put light on the decarbonization and climate adaptation of the building sector as key components of a climate policy able also to deliver future proof living spaces, and to announce the organization of the first Buildings and Climate Global Forum and disclose its goals.

Key international organizations are invited in the first panel to express their view on the place of buildings in their climate change policy. Two last panels or fireside chats will also display GlobalABC's work in “Adaptation” and in “Sufficiency”, and explore opportunities for progress and commitment at the Forum.

The event is co-organized by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition (MTE) and the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction (GlobalABC), whose secretariat is hosted by UNEP.

This event will be followed by the event “Building to Paris: Near-zero emission and resilient buildings for all” organized by France, BPIE and GBPN on 5 December at 18:30-20:00 GST in Room 1 (UNFCCC Side Event zone), also concerning the Global Forum, which will focus more on the country policies and the building value chain commitments.
