Session Description:
The built environment needs to decarbonise, fast. At the same time, there is an urgent need for more affordable, sustainable housing in many parts of the world. This means that we need to move from theory to action quickly, creating and renovating buildings within the carbon limits available, whilst optimising indoor comfort and health, energy performance, resilience and affordability.
At VELUX, we started our journey with sustainable living in buildings in 1999 and have since then been involved in more than 30 full-scale demonstration building projects in 22 countries and driven research that puts the spotlight on the need for building renovation solutions to address societal and environmental issues. This session will introduce learnings from our most recent project, ‘Living Places’ which takes a multi-disciplinary approach to building modern, sustainable buildings with a very low carbon foot-print and excellent indoor environmental quality.
