This interactive pitch session inspires creative solutions to the critical resource challenges facing the construction sector through the concept of a “House of No Waste” (HoW). We begin by presenting facts and figures on material waste, unrecoverable resources, space inefficiencies, and downcycling issues, drawing from UNEP/GlobalABC reports among others. UNU-FLORES’s initiative co-developing the HoW concept will centre the discussion, aligning with the GlobalABC mission and vision of advancing a zero-emission, efficient, and resilient buildings and construction sector. In our pop-up science lab, we engage the audience with a live survey, gathering insights on innovative ideas, potential barriers, and opportunities for driving the transition to a circular construction industry. These inputs will shape an architectural competition for a pilot in Germany as part of the Living Art of Building (LAB) project, and a series of international workshops or “HoW Labs”, for which we seek partners to bring them to life.
