The announcement of the third and final Market Transformation workshop: A Shared Global Action Agenda on Built Environment Market Transformation is a significant development, set to take place online and in-person during COP28 in Dubai. This workshop serves a vital role in the examination and refinement of emerging actions and the formulation of a set of shared global initiatives capable of yielding measurable results within 1-3 years.
The term "shared" is of paramount importance, as the objective here is to convene various existing efforts addressing system interventions and elevate them to a global shared agenda. This collective endeavor aims to overcome challenges across a fragmented value chain, aligning the actions of all stakeholders towards common global goals, including halving emissions by 2030 and achieving a fully decarbonized built environment by, or even before, 2050.
What's Next?
Following the third workshop in Dubai, the key messages from the Market Transformation Action Agenda will be presented at the launch of the Buildings Breakthrough on 6 December 2023 during COP28. This will showcase the alignment and mutual reinforcement with the Buildings Breakthrough recommendations.
Post-COP28, the development of an implementation plan for the shared global action agenda will commence, with the unveiling and launch set to take place at the inaugural Buildings and Climate Global Forum on 7-8 March 2024 in Paris.
Feedback and suggestions from participants are welcome and valued, as we look forward to continued engagement in this significant initiative. Your involvement is integral to our collective efforts. Thank you for your commitment and support.
