Intergovernmental Council for Buildings and Climate

On 7 and 8 March 2024, the Government of France and UNEP, with the support of GlobalABC, jointly organised the first Buildings and Climate Global Forum. This Forum concluded with the adoption of the Declaration de Chaillot by representatives from countries around the world, with over 60 national governments endorsing it.

The Declaration de Chaillot established the "Intergovernmental Council for Buildings and Climate" (ICBC) and tasked the GlobalABC with coordinating the ICBC’s work. This includes supporting the exchange of insights, sharing achievements, addressing challenges, formulating recommendations, discussing follow-ups, and assessing the implementation of this Declaration and other related intergovernmental initiatives and action plans.

In accordance with the Declaration, the ICBC will meet twice a year online at the senior government officials’ level, and once a year at the ministerial level.

The first technical meeting of the ICBC will take place on 26 September 2024. Interested governments can reach out to GlobalABC secretariat at [email protected] for more information.
