MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES

The Ministry of Urban Development of the Republic of Armenia is a public agency that develops and implements the urban development policy of the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The main functions of the Ministry include elaborating the state policy on urban development and territorial development programmes and monitoring the implementation thereof; drafting laws and regulation in fields of urban development; drawing up documents for urban development programmes on national and regional (micro-regional) levels; coordinating the drafting of layouts and zoning projects in communities; and elaborating sustainable urban development strategies for residential areas. The Ministry is also responsible for energy-efficiency in buildings, green architecture and for reducing greenhouse gas emissions from buildings. The Ministry forms part of the GABC since 2015 and especially interested in developing and coordinating programmes aimed at raising the level of energy saving and energy efficiency of the buildings; elaborating targeted state support programmes aimed at housing, as well as building institutional capacities for maintenance, exploitation and management of apartments and implementing of monitoring processes.
