Croatia GBC is the largest organization in Croatia in the field of sustainable construction and energy efficiency. Croatia GBC have over 100 members from the fields of construction, energy, economy, public administration and academia and recognizes the need to ensure the well-being of the built environment, sustainable construction, infrastructure and mobility. Croatia GBC is a member of the World Green Building Council (76 countries worldwide with over 36,000 members) and the European Regional Green Building Council Network
The Croatian Green Building Council acts as a platform to promote the positive impacts of sustainable buildings.
Croatia GBC's action strategy for the forthcoming period includes intensive work in the areas of:
- encouraging the development of the implementation of buildings with almost zero energy consumption - nZEB,
- policies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,
- promoting the concept of the circular economy in the built environment and
- putting people and life values at the forefront when creating a sustainable urban lifestyle in both private and business environments
Croatia GBC strives through education, networking, promotion, projects and advocacy to help reach a pinnacle in all fields in terms of sustainable urban living - from building according to green principles to the general lifestyle.
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
Croatia GBC does annual educations called GB PRO (Green Buildings Professional) to raise generations of multi-disciplinary experts spanning the fields of green building, designing and financing green buildings; use of eco-friendly materials for building, furnishing, and reconstruction of buildings; assessment of building value and life cycle with regard to green building elements; landscaping; energy-efficient light design; achieving of savings through recycling and energy savings; efficient use of water resources; selection of a sustainable site and its management; national regulations and certification. In addition to GBPro, Croatia GBC is leading two projects regarding climate actions: Climate Mitigation in Heritage Buildings - renovate heritage buildings - and Building Life project to achieve decarbonization of the build sector.
