Session Description

The World Championship for Energy Savings (WCES) will be officially launched at COP30 as the first global energy championship, accelerating countries’ progress toward the Chaillot Declaration and Buildings Breakthrough.

By engaging public administrations and major building operators, the WCES enables rapid, measurable, and replicable energy savings, turning sufficiency and efficiency into visible national achievements.

The session will present the endorsing countries and first 2025 Climate Champions, showcasing successful national leagues.

Through this initiative, the GlobalABC demonstrates how result-based competition can foster just transition, lower energy poverty, and advance operational decarbonization in buildings.

The event, as part of the Axis 4 Building Resilience for Cities, Infrastructure and Water Key Objective #12 Sustainable and resilient constructions and buildings answers COP30’s Presidential objectives on Buildings, Industry & Energy Transition, and contributes to Energy thematic day, supporting the global push to triple renewable energy, double energy efficiency, and transition away from fossil fuels in a just, orderly, and equitable manner.
