GlobalABC at COP31

COP31 is the 31st session of the Conference of the Parties under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), hosted by Türkiye in Antalya in November 2026. The summit brings together heads of state, ministers, scientists, business leaders, and civil society representatives from nearly 200 countries to negotiate and advance collective climate action, with an expected attendance of approximately 100,000 participants.

At COP31 in Antalya, GlobalABC will continue to champion ambitious climate action for the buildings and construction sector through high-level dialogue, strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives. As the global advocate for decarbonising the built environment, GlobalABC will be hosting the Buildings and Cooling Pavilion, bringing together governments, industry, finance, and civil society to accelerate the transition towards a zero-emission, resilient and sustainable buildings sector.

 

COP31 Pavilion: Call for Session Proposals Now Open

Thank you for your interest in contributing to the Pavilion at COP31 that will bring together partners working across climate-resilient cities, sustainable buildings and construction, cooling and heat resilience, with a shared focus on practical solutions and implementation.
 
The Call for Session Proposals is now open and will close on 10 September. Given the expected level of interest and limited programme space, we strongly encourage members planning to submit a proposal to begin coordinating now. Joint proposals developed across organisations, sectors, geographies or GlobalABC partners are likely to be particularly strong and to offer greater value to the overall programme. We look forward to welcoming a strong representation from the community in Antalya, and to showcasing the most compelling work, partnerships and solutions advancing building decarbonisation and sustainable cooling. This webinar will present the key outcomes and priorities emerging from the Lausanne Summit, highlight the COP31 Presidency’s thematic priorities for Antalya, and open a dialogue between GlobalABC members, Buildings to COP coalition and the COP31 Presidency on the role of the buildings and construction sector in the lead-up to COP31.

Webinar 4 - Empowering women to boost climate action in buildings: a pitch session | 24 September, 15:00-15:45 CEST 

On the run-up to COP31, this webinar will make one pitch: without women, the world cannot reach globally adopted climate targets for the buildings sector such as the reduction of 25% in building energy intensity. Gender inclusion frontrunners in the sector will pitch their work on initiatives that show: for each building sector challenge, there is an implementable gender solution. Participants will have the chance to ask questions and exchange on how those solutions could be useful in their contexts. 

Webinar 5 - Sufficiency hub - Energy efficiency in the GCC region | 29 September, 9:30-10:45 CEST

This webinar will explore what an integrated agenda for efficiency, flexibility and electrification looks like in practice, bringing together experts at the intersection of these two agendas. It will examine how policymakers and practitioners can align these agendas across regulation, infrastructure planning, investment mobilization, market readiness and implementation. KAPSARC will bring a practical, regional perspective from its recent analysis of energy efficiency in the buildings sector in GCC countries.

Webinar 8 - From COP30 to COP32: Accelerating Implementation in Buildings and Cooling | 29 October, 14:00 CEST

Buildings and cooling are at the heart of the global climate implementation challenge, influencing energy demand, emissions, resilience, affordability and quality of life. This webinar will bring together representatives from  COP30, COP31 and COP32 Presidencies to explore priorities, lessons learned and opportunities for stronger collaboration across successive COP cycles. The session will highlight pathways to accelerate decarbonised and resilient buildings and sustainable cooling solutions, as well as partnerships needed to turn climate commitments into implementation. 

Webinar 9 - Sustainable and Affordable Housing: National Pathways to Climate Action Ahead of COP31 | 5 November, 12:15 CEST

Delivering housing that is both affordable and sustainable is essential to achieving climate and development goals. Building on the momentum of the Belém Call for Action for Sustainable and Affordable Housing, this webinar explores how countries are integrating affordability, energy efficiency, and climate resilience into housing policies and programmes. Participants will gain practical insights from international cooperation and national experiences, including  policy frameworks, financing, regulatory approaches, and monitoring mechanisms that support inclusive, low-carbon housing and accelerate implementation in the lead-up to COP31 and beyond.

The conference is organized around two main zones:

The Blue Zone, the official UN-managed negotiation area for accredited delegations and international organizations.

 

The Green Zone, an inclusive public-facing space for the private sector, academia, civil society, youth, and technology startups to share solutions and build partnerships. 


 The COP31 Action Agenda focuses on ten priority themes: Zero Waste and Methane Reduction, Oceans and Seas, Food Security and Sustainable Agriculture, Climate-Resilient Cities,  Dynamic and Resilient Health Systems, Youth and Education, Green Industrialization, Clean Energy Transition and Electrification, Rio Synergies, and Powering Climate Action: Financial & Institutional Boost — with finance, technology, and capacity building as cross-cutting enablers.
