Market Transformation Hub

ABOUT THE MARKET TRANSFORMATION HUB

Led by WBCSD, the Market Transformation Hub brings together built environment stakeholders representing the full value chain to overcome the key market barriers preventing us from achieving a net-zero built environment. The Hub focuses on the three Market Transformation Levers developed under the GlobalABC: (i) adopt life-cycle thinking and Whole Life Carbon assessment, (ii) integrate carbon cost in decision-making and (iii) transform supply and demand for low-carbon solutions. The Market Transformation Hub is engaged in the Buildings Breakthrough Priority Action Area(s) B1 - Standards and Certifications & B2 - Demand Creation.

CO-LEADS:

  • World Business Council For Sustainable Development (WBCSD)

ACTIVITIES:

  • WBCSD will work with its members and partners to set up a coordination mechanism so that the 11 strategic interventions can be implemented in a collaborative and mutually supportive way. One example of this is the emergence of the initiative CLEAR (Coalition for Life Cycle Emissions Alignment and Reporting), which WBCSD and RICS will co-lead together under MTAA Lever 1. Other collaborative initiatives will be scoped and initiated based on interest and identification of supporting resources.
  • The Market Transformation work is relevant for all 5 priority actions, and in particular areas 1-3 on standards and certification, demand creation and finance. The initiatives under the MT Hub can support the development of the priority actions and make sure that actions by private sector and by governments mutually support each other.
