Session Description
This session will announce the upcoming installation of an Ecological Living Module (ELM) Brazil at the Museum of the Future in Rio de Janeiro, developed by the Yale Center for Ecosystems + Architecture (Yale CEA) in collaboration with UNEP and international partners of the Ecological Living Network (ELN). Scheduled to be installed in June 2026, ELM Brazil will demonstrate how a shelter for two families can procure secure on-site water, energy, biomaterials and food through regenerative materials and systems that are, in this case, designed for tropical climates and specifically within the Amazonian context in mind.
The event will introduce the initiative and its partners, showcasing how integrated systems thinking can advance low-carbon and climate-resilient cities. Designed for rapid assembly and disassembly, the module integrates advanced science, technology, and biogenic materials, including innovations such as Inventwood and Brazilian densified bamboo materials.
This installation exemplifies the Ecological Living Network (ELN) and contributes to the COP30 Presidential agenda on Cities, Nature, and Resilient Economies, promoting a just and regenerative transition in the built environment.
