Delivering Affordable and Climate-resilient housing for all

How can Europe deliver housing that is both climate-resilient and affordable for all?
On 11 June 2026, policymakers, architects, housing providers, cities and international organisations will gather in Brussels to explore practical solutions for inclusive and climate-resilient neighbourhoods.

Organised by Housing Europe and the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE) under the ARV project, and taking place as Satellite event of the New European Bauhaus Festival, the conference will focus on how cross-sector collaboration can turn climate ambition into concrete local action.

The programme will address key topics including climate adaptation, circular renovation, nature-based solutions, water management, passive design and positive energy neighbourhoods, while maintaining affordability and social inclusion at the centre of the transition.

Building on initiatives such as oPEN LAB and PROBONO, the conference will also highlight circular renovation and positive energy neighbourhoods, demonstrating how environmental performance and social outcomes can be achieved together. Participants will hear examples from cities including Vienna, Utrecht, Genk and Palma, highlighting how municipalities, housing providers and architects can work together to scale up resilient housing solutions.

The conference will also connect local experiences with broader European and global frameworks, including the New European Bauhaus, the EU Affordable Housing Plan and international initiatives led by UN-Habitat, UNEP and the GlobalABC.

A central moment of the event will be the presentation of a joint commitment on “Delivering Affordable and Climate-Resilient Housing for All”, reinforcing the need to prioritise vulnerable communities in the climate transition.
