With the global commitment to Net Zero by 2050, National Grid’s CEO has called investments in technology a critical enabler. That’s a key reason National Grid three years ago launched the utility industry’s first Silicon Valley-based investment and innovation group. But the challenge is too broad for any one company to meet alone. The International Energy Agency says worldwide investment in decarbonization needs to hit $4 trillion annually by 2030 to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, up from $1.2 trillion today. This panel of leading CEOs from a range of industries will discuss collaborations with, and investments in, startups as a key driver of clean-energy technologies. The head of National Grid Partners will also highlight portfolio companies that are already making a difference to National Grid’s carbon reduction efforts in Great Britain and the US.
