Scotland’s historic environment is both at risk from the impacts of climate change, but also part of the solution to the climate crisis.
This event will explore the work underway across the sector to understand the risks and impacts of climate change. During the event will also be discussed the features of the historic environment that can make it resilient to the risks and impacts of climate change. The role of the historic environment will then be explored regarding creating and shaping climate resilient places and spaces across Scotland.
Representaives of Adaptation Scotland, Dynamic Coast, Historic Envrionment Scotland, SCAPE, ICON and Edinburgh Climate Change Institute - with more to be announced, will be present.
Session One: Understanding climate hazards: Showcasing work underway in our sector to better understand climate hazards and risk and their impacts on the historic environment.
Session Two: Climate resilience and the historic environment: Demonstrating the inherent resilience of the historic environment – be that the features of it that are resilient to the impacts of climate change, or the features of it that help build and shape resilience of a place /a community.
