Description
Despite only covering 3% of the earth’s surface, cities are responsible for up to 80% of the world’s energy consumption and 75% of carbon emissions. With continued city growth, it is estimated that by 2050, more than two-thirds of the world’s population will live in urban areas – up from 55% today.
Setting up low-carbon and efficient building energy systems can definitely accelerate the overall energy transition for carbon-neutral cities. However, in the journey for such kinds of sustainable building energy systems, support from technical providers (mainly the private sector), policy-makers and energy agencies are crucial. The event is bringing these main stakeholders to share their opinions and lessons learned with a focus on developing countries and emerging economies.
