Session Description

This session examines the buildings and construction sector's alignment with Paris Agreement goals through two complementary lenses. Following the launch of the Belém Call for Action on 11 November, the Global Status Report on Buildings and Construction will present some key initial 2025 findings and metrics, touching also on affordable housing, a priority for Brazil's COP30 Presidency. The session will provide an update on building sector coverage in the latest NDCs and provide new analysis from the Global Buildings Climate Tracker, including background on subindicators.

The second part will feature UNEP's Emissions Gap Report, contextualising the built environment's progress alongside other economic sectors. Through panel discussion with representatives from across the sector, the session will highlight diverse perspectives, explore regional challenges and opportunities, and discuss pathways for enhanced international collaboration and financing. This exchange directly supports COP30's climate action objectives on mitigation, adaptation, and just transitions.
