Designed for Passive House certification, Crafts Street Senior Housing, an all-electric building with a commercial kitchen and indoor swimming pool, will set a new standard for senior living and Passive House multifamily building. Designed by Elkus Manfredi Architects with RDH, Senior Resource Group, and Mark Development, the 185 residences feature 105 independent living apartments, 52 assisted living apartments, and 28 memory care apartments over a parking garage. Located in Newton, Massachusetts, the project anticipates a 2023 construction start and a 2025 delivery. Find out how they are planning to make it happen.
Two connected buildings—a six-story wing containing independent living apartments and a five-story wing housing assisted living and memory care units—frame a central courtyard. The ground floor connects the two wings and provides a variety of indoor and outdoor spaces for dining, gathering, and community activities. Resident amenities include a fitness and wellness center, dining commons, a living room/library, theater, arts and crafts room, salon, and a pool to facilitate SRG’s Zest Wellbeing program, which focuses on physical, mental and spiritual health.
Located in a transit-friendly urban location adjacent to shops and amenities, the buildings form welcoming edges to the surrounding neighborhood, with all of the resident and staff parking below in a 135-space garage.
