Expert Group Meeting on SDG 7 for 2026 HLPF Thematic Review
-

The Expert Group Meeting (EGM) on SDG 7 for the 2026 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) Thematic Review will take stock of progress on SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy). The EGM will result in an action-oriented summary note that aims to inform the 2026 HLPF.

The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) will organize the event with relevant UN system partners. The meeting will bring together diverse experts from government, the private sector, academia, civil society, and the UN system.

The EGM on each of the Goals under review will assess progress, identify emerging and persistent challenges to progress, and consider opportunities for action that have emerged since each in-focus SDG was last reviewed at the HLPF. The EGM will focus on assessing action on SDG 7 and identifying opportunities to accelerate it. Participants will also focus on sharing lessons learned and identifying promising partnerships and opportunities for rapidly scaling up action toward achieving the SDGs, including by addressing tradeoffs and generating synergies.
