Launch of GCCA Definitions of Low Carbon Cement and Concrete for Green Procurement
| 12:30-13:30 UK time

Low-carbon procurement is a key policy enabler for industrial decarbonisation. Foundational for this are definitions for low-carbon products. The members of GCCA, in consultation with a wide group of stakeholders and global initiatives, and using the International Energy Agency cement definitions as a robust starting point, have developed such definitions for cement and concrete.

This webinar will explain the reasons behind the fundamental choices that have shaped these definitions. It will also explain how they can be adapted and adopted in countries and/or at the regional level to set appropriate decarbonisation procurement targets according to the local decarbonisation progress already achieved, as well as key opportunities and challenges that exist. Whilst the definitions have been widely shared in 2024 over the course of consultation, this event sees the launch of the definitions.
