Join the World Green Building Council on 12 April 2023, 10:00 AM BST for the official launch of its “Global Policy Principles for a Sustainable Built Environment,” which aim to act as a guide for governments when developing their building policies and programmes, in order to unlock the potential of the built environment and deliver the 1.5°C limit. 

The intention of the Principles is to:

• Articulate universally applicable Principles to guide development of locally relevant policies that enable and expedite achieving building sector climate goals
• Demonstrate the impact that buildings have on the environment, societies and economies
• Align Green Building Councils (GBCs) globally behind a common call for more policy ambition and action from policymakers, and use the Principles as a resource for external positioning and advocacy
• Develop an asset that can be used as a blueprint so that GBCs can develop national policy principles and / or as a basis for roadmaps.

The Principles will be launched on 12 April, a couple of days before the Climate Ministers from G7 countries meet in Japan (15–16 April). The intention in launching ahead of this meeting is to send a clear message that governments and policymakers must recognise the built environment as key to delivering a decarbonised, resilient and equitable future.

The launch will be in the format of a pre-recorded 60 minute online roundtable with representatives from each region of the Globe, representing regional organisations or NGOs working on policy in the built environment.

The pre-recorded webinar will be broadcast as a “LIVE” webinar 12 April, 10am BST.
