Sustainable Buildings and Energy Efficient Cooling in Bangladesh

Online

The building sector is seriously affected by rising temperatures and strongly determines the countries’ pathway towards sustainable development, especially in emerging economies like Bangladesh, greatly exposed to the impacts of climate change. Rising temperatures results in higher energy demand, as well as larger GHG emissions. Mitigating these impacts would require greater ambition in the enforcement of energy efficiency buildings’ regulations and policies.

Since early 2020, the World Bank is working with support from SREDA on an activity to scale up the implementation of green and energy efficient building rating systems and minimum energy performance standards and start labeling of energy-intensive appliances in Bangladesh. In this context, the knowledge exchange webinar aims to convene the relevant, key energy efficiency stakeholders of Bangladesh and international experts to share knowledge and experiences on green and energy efficient building rating systems and cool roofs programs and their applicability in the country. This Webinar will include an overview of international and regional experiences of various green and energy efficient building rating systems and cool roofs programs, followed by a high-level panel discussion with national experts and practitioners. Please find the Webinar Announcement & draft Agenda below and attached to this invitation.
