The American Concrete Institute (ACI) is a non-profit technical society and a leading authority on the development, dissemination, and adoption of consensus-based standards, technical resources, education, training, and certification programmes for concrete design, construction, and materials. Headquartered in Farmington Hills, Michigan, ACI brings together engineers, architects, researchers, contractors, manufacturers, educators, and public agencies to advance concrete knowledge through scientific research, standards development, technical publications, conferences, and professional certification. ACI's field of expertise encompasses concrete materials, structural engineering, construction practices, repair and rehabilitation, and the development of internationally recognised design and construction standards.
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
ACI supports the transition to low-carbon and resilient buildings by developing standards, technical guidance, and educational programmes that promote sustainable concrete materials, durable construction, and resilient infrastructure. The Institute has established NEU: An ACI Center of Excellence for Carbon Neutral Concrete, which accelerates research, education, and the adoption of carbon-neutral concrete technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the built environment. Through its standards development, research initiatives, and collaboration with industry, academia, and government, ACI advances innovative materials and construction practices that improve the durability, resilience, and environmental performance of buildings and infrastructure.
