MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES

The Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK) tackles a wide range of important areas, which are all indispensable for the republic of Austria and its citizens in their everyday lives.

ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS

Austria has set itself the ambitious goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2040. Hence, the building sector will also have to be decarbonized by then. The ministry focuses on the thermal and energetic renovation of existing buildings and on the replacement of fossil fuels into renewable sources for space heating. The measures among others are supported in particular by extensive subsidies and awareness-raising. Therefore, the ministry has established the State Prize for Architecture and Sustainability which honours outstanding achievements by building developers, architects and planners who combine high-quality architecture and resource-friendly building methods.
