ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS

The Development Guarantee Company, co-founded by Cardano Development, is the only specialist advisory, project development and asset management platform focused on creating innovative guarantee solutions to deliver the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The company provides advisory services to strategy, operations, risk management and governance of guarantors and guarantee programmes; asset management of newly created guarantors or guarantee programmes in partnership with project clients including the Green Guarantee Company, the world’s first solely climate focused financial guarantor with a guarantee capacity of USD 1 billion, and project development to bridge the gap between advisory and asset management using diverse experience to create bespoke guarantee solutions.

The Development Guarantee Group (DGG) manages the Green Guarantee Company (GGC), which provides guarantees to de-risk green investments in the buildings and construction sector across the Global South. GGC’s investment grade guarantee, provides confidence to institutional investors to commit capital to green buildings developments and scale the climate finance needed to decarbonize the sector. 

GGC also provides input to thought leadership pieces and policy briefs including the ‘NDCs for the Built Environment: Guidance for policymakers and practitioners’ publication submitted to the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction through UNEP and GIZ.  

GGC team members regularly present at climate events and contribute to panels and roundtable discussions, including on the buildings sector e.g. the upcoming Partnership for Energy Efficiency in Buildings and GlobalABC event ‘Financing Green Buildings at scale: what role for development banks, public and private finance?’ at New York Climate Week 2025.
