ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS

As an international consulting and engineering company, we tackle complex challenges and seize promising opportunities with our clients. We are a global, interdisciplinary and collaborative community of experts committed to making the world a better place.

Throughout our company's extensive legacy, our focus on sustainability has consistently been our top priority. This deep-seated dedication has motivated us to contribute to sustainable development over five decades substantially.

In the building sector, we specialize in planning and implementing eco-friendly design and energy efficiency. We integrate circular economy as well as social requirements to meet ESG- and Net Zero targets. Our services include green building certification, materials evaluation, and life cycle assessments, helping you create sustainable, healthy, and comfortable spaces.

Some exemplary EBP projects are:

CEELA Project:  The project “Strengthening Capacities for Energy Efficiency in Buildings in Latin America” (CEELA) aims to train and support professionals in the sector to promote energy-efficient buildings with adaptive comfort and low or zero CO₂ emissions. Through model constructions, educational offerings, and the generation and exchange of knowledge, the initiative fosters learning, building, and transformation to achieve climate change mitigation and adaptation. ̶

• Net Zero Building EBP HQ in Chile:  The Burgos building was designed around the implementation of simple and effective solutions to achieve ultra-low energy consumption, supported by high-efficiency active systems. As a result, the total energy required throughout the year is equivalent to that produced by the building’s photovoltaic system. The project also incorporates the strategic use of wood, a key material for achieving net zero carbon. In addition to its environmental benefits, wood also creates a warm and comfortable atmosphere, enhancing the work environment for the EBP team.

• Taxonomy: In 2024, EBP Chile developed the proposal for T-MAS for Chile in the Construction and Real Estate Activities sector. T-MAS is a classification tool that defines which economic activities can be considered environmentally sustainable, based on technical and scientific criteria. The main objective of T-MAS is to guide public and private investment toward activities that contribute to the country’s environmental goals, in line with climate commitments such as the Paris Agreement and the Long-Term Climate Strategy. The technical criteria for selecting a "sustainable" activity are classified as either Substantial Contribution (SC) or Do No Significant Harm (DNSH) and must be applied to six environmental objectives.

• Certification of portfolios with DGNB GiB for AXA IM:  AXA Investment Managers Schweiz AG – Real Assets pursues an ambitious sustainability strategy for the properties it manages. Sustainability certifications play an important role in ensuring adequate sustainability performance at the property level. Since 2022, we have been certifying sub-portfolios of AXA IM according to the DGNB Buildings in Operation label as project managers and DGNB auditors.

• Guide to a climate-neutral real estate portfolio: How do you make your own climate-neutral properties? Our guide to a climate-neutral real estate portfolio records energy consumption and CO2 emissions at the portfolio level and identifies "polluting" properties. Together with the owners, we define climate targets and align the catalog of measures accordingly. The guide covers the entire process, from analyzing greenhouse gas emissions to developing the strategy and communicating the results.
