MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES

The Housing and Building National Research Center (HBRC) was established in 1954. Since that date, it HBRC had performed its mandate in organizing and issuing codes of practices and implementation of buildings and construction. HBRC is an independent government research center affiliated to the Ministry of Housing, utilities and Urban development. It performs a leading role in enhancing the performance of the building, housing and urban development sector in both the local and regional context.

ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS

In view of the recent challenges that confront achieving the urban development goals in Egypt and the Arab region and in parallel with almost 70 years of existence, HBRC is keen on being a center of excellence within the Arab region and in performing efficiently its role within the construction sector, specialized in the following fields; Development of engineering codes of practice and offer of training programs, Evaluation services including technical consultations, field inspection, quality control & laboratory testing, Applied researches, and action planning, Strategic studies for urban development, Studies related to the Egyptian building laws and regulations
