MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES

Chaire Immobilier et Développement Durable is a teaching and research chair dedicated to the economy, finance, and management of real estate.

The real estate industry has witnessed a dramatic change in the last 10 years by becoming increasingly financial. The building industry is now pointed out for its huge consequences on global warming with a major role in its carbon emissions. These two industries are closely linked and must necessarily work hand-in-hand to target zero-emission on a larger scale.

Today, Real Estate has become the second-highest expense in company management and buildings the first global greenhouse gas emitter. This statement involves a major change in construction and in property management. We are in a world we need to understand and teach that we can no longer leave the carbon footprint of buildings aside. This aspect must necessarily be taken into account in the teaching area too.

ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS

The Real Estate and Sustainable Development Chair produced and edited a “Cahier” on the subject of Greening up the city and the challenges for the Real Estate sector.

Ingrid Nappi produced two papers on the importance of greenery and of biodiversity in the corporate world: Download them here and here!
