MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES
ES-SO is a non-profit organisation acting as an umbrella for the local solar shading organisations within the EU. They also accept Supportive members from non-EU countries.
Today the organisation has eighteen member countries in Europe and Supportive members in Mexico and Canada.
To organization has divided its work into four Committees for Advocacy, Technical, Professional development and Marketing/Communication. Advocacy being active in having solar shading included in EU and local building /energy regulations as a building technology and a passive and energy-efficient solution. The organisation's Technical Committee is the backbone of their industry involved in various scientific projects/studies and the development of new ISO/EN standards. The Professional Development Committee supports their industry with educational programs and finally, their Marketing/Com Committee supports all other by managing the dissemination of their actions and positions via media / social media channels.
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
Already back in 2010, ES-SO wrote a Guidebook for REHVA members (EU HVAC Organisation). Over the years they have issued a few Position papers connected to the "Renovation wave" and "Climate Action" within the EU.
In 2022 the organization assigned Guidehouse in Germany to conduct a major study based on the recognized use of solar shading and what this would mean in terms of final energy use, mitigation of CO2 emissions, less use/installation of artificial cooling and actual cost savings.
