MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES
The Green Digital Finance Alliance (GDFA) is a Swiss-based not-for-profit, founded in 2017 by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and Ant Group at the World Economic Forum (WEF). It enables and co-creates digital pathways to unlock finance and new business models for climate, nature and biodiversity challenges, with a global, cross-sectoral ecosystem, in mature and emerging markets. One of GDFA’s core work areas is the Built Environment, where the work entails thought leadership, advisory, developing tools and frameworks and project delivery.
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
GDFA has produced a crowdsourced online resource “Encyclopenergy”, a global catalogue of financing tools, business models, and regulatory frameworks for building energy efficiency. This resource offers free knowledge of enablers to support the scaling of decarbonisation for the global built environment.
GDFA also leads or has led work packages (WP) in EU funded projects, including:
1. ARV Climate Positive Circular Communities demonstrates and validates attractive, resilient, and affordable solutions to accelerate energy efficiency measures and deep energy and circular renovations in the EU. WP: Business models, financial instruments, policy and exploitation.
2. NEEM Nordic Energy Efficient Mortgage Hub scales-up lending to energy renovations in the Nordics. The project developed a data-driven model that predicts the energy label of buildings with minimal data requirements and suggests home renovation measures accordingly. WP: Ensuring sufficient data for lending institutions.
