The Guatemala Green Building Council (GGBC) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to transforming Guatemala's building sector by promoting environmentally sustainable, socially responsible, and economically viable construction practices. As a member of the World Green Building Council network, GGBC works with government, academia, businesses, and industry stakeholders to advance sustainable development through technical guidance, policy advocacy, education and training, professional networking, certification programmes, and market transformation initiatives. Its areas of expertise include green building, sustainable construction, building certification, technical standards, capacity building, sustainable materials, and resilient urban development.
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
GGBC actively promotes the design, construction, and operation of low-carbon, energy-efficient, and resilient buildings through certification programmes such as CASA Guatemala, technical tools, educational platforms, industry training, and the promotion of international sustainable building standards. The organisation also convenes regional events, supports the adoption of resilient construction practices, collaborates with public and private sector partners, and encourages the use of sustainable building materials and energy-efficient technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
