The 2025 GlobalABC Annual Assembly is set to be a landmark event, bringing together over 100 participants from across the buildings and construction sector. Taking place from 7-8 April 2025, with a Building and Energy Codes meetup on 6 April and an in-person Technical Coordination Group meeting on 9 April, this year's Assembly in Dresden promises to significantly enhance networking opportunities, fostering deeper collaboration and exchange among stakeholders dedicated to a zero-emission, resilient future for the built environment.
Strengthening Networking Opportunities
Recognizing the importance of meaningful connections, the Assembly will emphasize creating diverse networking spaces. From a reception in the Dresden City Hall and dedicated breakout sessions to opportunities for bilateral meetings and innovation expeditions, attendees will have multiple avenues to engage, share insights, and forge new partnerships. With participants spanning industry leaders, researchers, and policymakers, the event aims to spark conversations that lead to actionable outcomes.
Additionally, the Assembly will be held back-to-back with the Dresden Nexus Conference 2025, offering further avenues for interdisciplinary engagement.
Significant Government Representation
The 2025 Assembly will see substantial representation from government bodies, underscoring the growing political momentum in advancing climate-resilient construction. Delegates include representatives from ministries and public institutions from across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. Notably, the Intergovernmental Council for Buildings and Climate (ICBC) will be actively involved, with member countries contributing to key discussions and sharing their national commitments following the endorsement of the Chaillot Declaration by 60 countries in 2024.
The success of GlobalABC in recent years has elevated the Coalition's engagement with countries and stakeholders. At COP28, the Buildings Breakthrough was launched, and the GlobalABC Secretariat received the significant role of its facilitator. Following the Global Forum on Buildings and Climate (Paris, 7-8 March 2024) and the High-Level Roundtable on Green Construction and Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Climate Resilience in Cities (COP29, 20 November 2024), the Intergovernmental Council for Buildings and Climate (ICBC) was established. The GlobalABC was also requested to assume the role of ICBC Secretariat. This development is pivotal for ensuring effective coordination and synergies between GlobalABC, ICBC, and the Buildings Breakthrough.
This 2025 Annual Assembly therefore aims to develop synergies between various GlobalABC activities and formulate proposals for collaboration with the ICBC. Furthermore, the Assembly will facilitate an exchange of knowledge and best practices among the members and support capacity-building through bespoke training sessions, which will be organized during the Assembly.

Supporting Logistics for a Seamless Experience
To ensure participants can focus on building connections, the Secretariat has provided hotel recommendations and logistical support. This includes facilitating interactions through well-planned breaks and networking-friendly spaces within the venue. Furthermore, to encourage inclusive participation, the Secretariat is sponsoring attendees from low-income and middle-income countries, ensuring a diverse and representative gathering that reflects the global nature of the sector's challenges and solutions.
The 2025 Assembly is set to be more than a meeting—it's a catalyst for deeper collaboration and concrete action. The GlobalABC Secretariat is excited to welcome participants and looks forward to shaping the future of sustainable buildings and construction together.
