2021 is the year of COP26, bringing an unprecedented opportunity for the construction sector to demonstrate its contribution to achieving Paris Agreement goals.

June marks one year since the launch of #RacetoZero, of which GlobalABC is a prominent actor/supporter. 

According to the 2020 Global Status Report for Buildings and Construction, the built environment is responsible for ~40% of global carbon emissions. Construction companies are an influential stakeholder that can deliver a strong ambition signal to developers, local and national governments from those at the helm of project delivery.

The construction sector must take collective responsibility & play their part in creating a sustainable & resilient future for everyone. However, currently construction companies are one of the least represented business types in the #RacetoZero. 

Let’s use this one year marker to highlight frontrunners and issue a call to action to those that will be left behind, in the lead up to COP26.
