Three panellists are visible on stage with a large green screen displaying participant headshots and names including Lea Renalder, Libasse (identified as Chairman of National Climate Change Committee of Senegal), and Martin Baier (Head Siemens Smart Infrastructure). An audience of approximately 25 people sits facing the stage, with a projection screen showing a mountain landscape and the text 'Turning Ambition Into Impact' on the left side of the stage

At COP30, GlobalABC and the World Green Building Council convened representatives from government, the private sector, and international organisations to discuss the critical role of national decarbonisation roadmaps are driving aligned action at national and subnational levels. The session highlighted progress in countries including Bangladesh and Senegal, where roadmaps are providing strategic frameworks for implementation.

Global Commitment and Impact

Buildings and Construction decarbonization roadmaps were selected by the COP Presidency and High-Level Climate Champions as a COP30 Plans to Accelerate Solutions (PAS) underscoring the power of this initiative to deliver real and impactful change. Indeed, the 60 countries that adopted the Declaration de Chaillot have committed to developing and implementing national roadmaps for decarbonised and climate-resilient buildings supported by clear actions, timelines, and enabling policies. Since the launch of the Global and Regional Roadmaps for Buildings and Construction in 2020, over 32 countries have developed roadmaps demonstrating the expanding demand for structured decarbonization frameworks.

About Climate Action Roadmaps

GlobalABC's Climate Action Roadmaps for Buildings and Construction developed in partnership with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and UNEP, align market, policy, and finance forces to translate climate commitments into measurable action. They are a flagship product of the Global Alliance for Buildings and Construction, designed to bring all stakeholders together to agree on pathways with specific actions, timelines, and ambitious targets to reduce operational and embedded carbon emissions while increasing resilience, inclusion, and wellbeing in the built environment.

In 2024, GlobalABC launched a step-by-step guide—co-developed with UNEP, UNOPS, and UN-Habitat—to support countries in developing roadmaps.
