MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES
EcoTool is an aid for the identification of measurable sustainability of a construction project in the creation and estimation of operating energy. EcoTool is ideal in early phases of a construction project (draft, design, competition). In these phases, the potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions is greatest.
With EcoTool, the life cycle balance of a construction project can be estimated with the help of simple and few inputs. Superstructures of components can be varied quickly and easily in order to recognize the influence of different superstructures on the life cycle assessment. Due to the simplicity of the tool, the largest levers that have a negative impact on the life cycle balance can be quickly recognized and improved. The calculation is carried out via a balance sheet calculation, which takes place on data recognized in Switzerland (SIA standards and KBOB data).
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
The more people create a life cycle assessment of their building design, the more sustainable the construction industry becomes. EcoTool regularly offers free webinars in order to share the know-how about life cycle assessment as widely as possible. Every user of the EcoTool software gains an awareness of sustainable construction, sustainable building materials and low emissions during operation.
The latest feature is an addition relating to the circular economy. This means that reused components can also be taken into account in the life cycle assessment and the difference compared to new material becomes evident.
EcoTool also runs regular introductory courses at universities to familiarize students with the subject of LCA and circular economy while they are still at an educational level.
