MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES
The High Performance Building Alliance is an Irish Government and UNECE approved Centre of Excellence, dedicated to addressing climate change through industry informed research and upskilling, to optimise the sustainability of the built environment. Our mission is to actively contribute to the global effort in addressing climate change by fostering industry informed research and responding to the challenge by sharing opportunities to upskill the workforce in modern methods of construction. We are committed to optimising the sustainability of the built environment through strategic initiatives, innovation, communication and collaborative efforts.
We are a membership organisation which brings together the sustainable building community in an effort to provide innovative solutions and job creation in the construction industry.
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
We were founded in 2019 with the goal of addressing skills shortages in the construction industry which meant they were unable to respond to the demand for A rated Council Houses, impacting on our ability to achieve Climate Action Plan targets. Wexford became the first county in Ireland to have a dedicated NZEB training centre and subsequently all our newly built council houses are NZEB standard. We are written into the National Climate Action Plan and the NZEB training centres are now found nationwide. We continue to innovate in this space, providing many courses offsite and using VR.
