MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES
The Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment at Delft University of Technology, established in 1904, has a leading role in the area of architecture education and research in the broadest sense.
A combination of a strong research profile and the passion and creativity of BK Bouwkunde and its academic community form the driving force behind the faculty’s success. Its value for society and influence on it extends much further than the sum of the graduate engineers, publications and exhibitions it delivers.
TU Delft’s Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment has an international reputation as a platform for innovation of knowledge and expertise in the built environment.
ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS
Research and education on the development of a decarbonized and sustainable building and construction sector is the core of the activities of the Faculty of Architecture and the Bu¡lt Environment, as well as the Urban Energy lnstitute of Delft University of Technology. Consult the overview of the main themes addressed by the Faculty here. Learn more about the themes addressed by the Urban energy lnstitute here.
Currently, projects include the coordination of the EU Horizon Europe Project DEMO-Blog (Demonstration and development of Digital Building Logbooks), which highlights developments on building data and digital tools for decarbonisation of buildings in several European countries. The CAPSA digital building passport, developed in cooperation with the GlobalABC DataHub, is a partner in that project. As a spin-off of that project, the Faculty will start soon with the project RenoDat, which will focus on Renovation Passports in the Netherlands. In the past years, the Faculty has also carried out various studies on systems of building regulations and related building control, with a specific focus on building codes for energy-efficient buildings and the use of energy labelling systems for (residential) buildings. The Faculty has worked on overviews of building standards in the global north and in the global south. The latter, in cooperation with South Africa, was presented in a webinar with the DataHub.
