MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES

In the 25+ years since our founding, Habitable (formerly Healthy Building Network) has innovated science-based, actionable solutions that leverage market influence for scaled impact. Our ambition is to reimagine the materials economy in service of human and planetary health. Whether through our own research and tools, or those fostered by the Habitable Innovation Hub, we take pride in our effective, trusted, and independent solutions rooted in transparency and data integrity.

ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS

Habitable deeply understands what building materials are made of and tracks the use and release of hazardous chemicals throughout the life cycle of a material including raw material extraction, manufacturing, installation, use and end of life. We summarize these findings in freely accessible, easy to use Informed product guidance that ranks material types (e.g. luxury vinyl tile or fiberglass insulation) within a product category (e.g. flooring or insulation) using an intuitive red-to-green (worst to best in class) color ranking.

Habitable is also a thought leader exploring how the building sector can be part of the solutions to solving climate change, pollution, and the equity gap.
