It is designed to be implementation-focused, decision-relevant and action-oriented.
Around 30 banks participating in the UNEP FI residential real estate workstream were invited to contribute to this knowledge product. The group, co-led by ING and Crédit Agricole and convened by UNEP FI, supported its drafting and review, with technical input informed by previous research undertaken by ING and Guidehouse (Guidehouse and ING, 2025 & 2026) on residential building decarbonization. This structure provides both strategic and technical input, ensuring that the outputs were grounded in practical financial expertise, aligned with broader international frameworks and consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Decisions were guided through collaborative engagement among participating institutions, with UNEP FI facilitating collaboration, coherence and alignment with global initiatives.
