MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES

The Building and Construction Authority (BCA) is an agency under the Singaporean Ministry of National Development, championing the development of a future-ready built environment for Singapore. Besides regulating building safety, The BCA aims to lead and transform the built environment sector in delivering a safe, high quality, sustainable and friendly built environment. It also aims to shape the landscape to prepare for the future of Singapore, rally the built environment sector to achieve goals reaching beyond today's standards and improving the living environment for all Singaporeans. In 2011, BCA introduced BREEF to offer financing to offset the high upfront costs, through an energy performance contract arrangement. With the scheme, applicants can obtain financing from the Participating Financial Institutions and pay off the loan through the energy savings reaped. BREEF can cover the cost of equipment, installation and professional fees.

ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS

Energy/climate/buildings-related activities: Among others, BCA has a financing scheme to offset high energy efficiency investment costs.
