MAIN GOALS - GENERAL ACTIVITIES - FIELD OF EXPERTISES

EACREEE is an intergovernmental initiative of the East African Community (EAC) Partner States. It is a Non-For-Profit organization under the Ugandan Laws. It is an autonomous corporate, governed by an independent Board of Directors, comprising permanent secretaries from the energy ministry of each of the EAC Partner States as well as representatives from EAC Secretariat and Makerere University. The Board reports to the EAC Sectoral Council on Energy a committee of energy ministers from the EAC Partner States), hence ensuring regional ownership of EACREEE programmes and accountability. EACREEE focusses on the creation of an integrated and inclusive EAC market for sustainable energy and climate technology products and services. It seeks to contribute to increased availability and supply of services that address rural energy poverty, increase competitiveness and productivity of domestic businesses, and limit the carbon footprint of the region.

ACTIVITY RELATED TO LOW GHG AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND RESILIENT BUILDINGS

EACREEE's goal of the creation of an enabling environment for renewable energy and energy efficiency markets and investments through regional interventions are aligned to GlobalABC. Thus EACREE seeks to participate in the GlobalABC so as to tap global efforts as a representative of the EAC region – particular interests are a net-zero-energy/ultra-energy-efficient building as its offices and a project on sustainable cities that will involve a component on promoting net-zero-energy/ultra-energy-efficient buildings in the EAC region.
