The Clean Construction Policy Explorer on the C40 Knowledge Hub is an interactive dashboard showing how cities around the world are supporting the transition towards a resource-efficient and low- to zero-emissions construction sector. The map is a living document and C40 will keep it up to date as new policies are developed.

Use the map to explore and learn about the actions cities are taking to tackle the embodied emissions of their built environment. The filters allow you to select specific cities and/or regions, as well as looking at city action through the following lenses:

Policy types: shows the six broad types of policy cities can take, ranging from urban planning to building regulations and city procurement. The policies adopted in each city reflect the degree of control and power the city government has over their built environment, among other factors. You can find more information on the policy types below the dashboard.

Applicable to: shows where the policy is applicable, e.g. municipal or private buildings, infrastructure and civil work, all built environment, etc.

Strategy, targets and pilots: shows that cities can take other actions than policies to progress on clean construction.

Scroll down to the table to get more information on each action, as well as a link to the original document where available. For more information about embodied emissions, see the C40 Clean Construction Programme.
