High-Level Convenings and Side Events at COP30

GlobalABC's engagement at COP30 extends beyond the Buildings and Cooling Pavilion through strategic high-level sessions, ministerial meetings and partner-led events across the Blue Zone. These convenings address critical pathways for decarbonising and building resilience in the buildings and construction sector—from intergovernmental cooperation to systemic market transformation.


Below is a selection of key sessions and networking opportunities taking place throughout COP30.

11 Nov, 12:30-14:00 | First ICBC Ministerial Meeting | GCA Room 1 (São Francisco) - Blue Zone, COP30

First Ministerial Meeting of the Intergovernmental Council for Buildings and Climate (ICBC): Co-chaired by France, Kenya, and Brazil, the Intergovernmental Council for Buildings and Climate (ICBC) will hold its firstMinisterial Meeting to catalyse global cooperation on climate action in the buildings sector. This high-level gathering will launch the Belém Call for Action for Sustainable and Affordable Housing and acknowledge key ICBC deliverables developed through extensive consultations with member countries. The GlobalABC serves as the ICBC Secretariat, hosted by UNEP.

14 Nov, 14:00-15:00 | Driving Climate Action in Buildings: Activating Roadmaps and Scaling Climate Solutions | Axis 4 Thematic Room (COP Presidency area), Blue Zone

Driving Climate Action in Buildings: Activating Roadmaps and Scaling Climate Solutions: Sector roadmaps are a critical tool providing strategic frameworks for action on decarbonisation and resilience, this session will showcase the transformative impact they are having on the built environment sector, contributing towards the goals of the COP30 Action Agenda. This session is co-organised by the World Green Building Council (WorldGBC) and Global Alliance for Buildings & Construction (GlobalABC).

15 Nov, 15:30-16:30 | Driving Systemic Change for Near-Zero Emission and Resilient Buildings (Buildings Breakthrough) | Axis 4 Thematic Room (COP Presidency area), Blue Zone

Driving Systemic Change for Near-Zero Emission and Resilient Buildings (Buildings Breakthrough): Launched at COP28, the Buildings Breakthrough aims to make "near-zero emission and resilient buildings the new normal by 2030." This session will convene governments and partners to advance concrete actions across priority areas including standards and certification, demand creation, finance, and capacity building.

Building for Forests & People: Delivering Resilient and Responsible Buildings Solutions: This event brings together SW4SW, FCLP, Built by Nature, GlobalABC, OID, ICC, ROOH, and SPARC to showcase how responsible timber construction and community-led buildings solutions can deliver resilient, affordable, and forest-positive outcomes for people and planet. content.

Networking Events Around COP

Networking Reception at Historic FIEPA Mansion in Belém hosted by GlobalABC, supported by Saint-Gobain | 11 November | 17:30 - 21:00 
GlobalABC, supported by Saint-Gobain, invites built environment sector and sustainability leaders, NGOs, IGOs, and government officials to an evening reception at the historic FIEPA mansion. This Belle Époque landmark, built during Pará’s Rubber Boom in the late 19th century, showcases European-influenced design adapted to the tropical Amazon climate. The evening will include welcome remarks from Saint-Gobain, UNEP and France, and guided tours of the venue.
